Synodontis filamentosus hay còn biết đến với tên longfin synodontis[2] là tên của một loài cá da trơn bơi lộn ngược và là loài đặc hữu của lưu vực sông Nin, sông Volta, sông Niger và lưu vực Chad[3]. Vào năm 1901, nhà động vật học người Bỉ gốc Anh George Albert Boulenger mô tả loài cá này dựa trên mẫu vật thu thập được ở gần cửa hồ No, sông White Nile, Sudan[2]. Tên loài filamentosus được đặt là do vây lưng và đuôi của chúng như bị kéo dài ra.[4]
